Avatar can Break the Ice

Ice Breaking for the 1st Class
Ice breaking is must-do task for teachers for the very first class. There are abundant techniques to break the ice such as interviewing each other, doing a game to remember names, and any collaborating activities.
Avatar can Break the Ice
Creating an Avatar can be an idea to break the ice using the technology in the classroom. It is simple and quick to create an avatar using free websites (doppelme.com; zwinky.com; meez.com; secondlife.com\Avatar).
How?
As a teacher, you can give an assignment to students to:
(1) create an avatar using one of the websites,
(2) describe the avatar's characteristics (teachers can give prompts - name, favorite food, etc.)
(3) post it on a web-community site for your class.
The avatar and its characteristics below is created by me. It took about 10 minutes to create. This idea can make it easier for students to get to know each other by taking a look at their classmates' avatar's characteristics and interests via viewing the avatar's info.
So, how about using this quick and simple method for your first class for Ice Breaking? :)
