Thoughts/Quotes on Qualitative Research - Constructivism, truths based on the interactions between subject and external world

Constuctivism

- Interaction between Subject and External World

- Multiple realities

- Each individual's meaning making are equally valid

- Regardless its alignment or misalignment with existing theories

"...constructivism assumes that truths are constructed through the interaction between the subject and the external world (Crotty, 1998). Thus, multiple realities exist, and whether or not those realities support or contradict each other, they are all equally valid.

This means, each teacher constructs meaning in different ways, even if they work in the same school context. As such, we take each teacher's account of their meaning making as equally valid, regardless of its alignment or misalignment with existing identity theories" (Hong & Cross Francis, 2002, p, 209).
